The Yellow Crane Tower is located on the top of the Wuchang Snake Mountain on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is close to the Yangtze River for thousands of miles. It is a national 5A tourist attraction. The Yellow Crane Tower is a landmark building in Wuhan, and is called the "Three Famous Places in Wuhan" along with Qingchuan Pavilion and Guqin Terrace. Together with Hunan Yueyang Tower and Jiangxi Tengwang Pavilion, it is called the "Three Famous Buildings in Jiangnan".


The Yellow Crane Tower was built in the second year of Wu Huangwu in the Three Kingdoms period (AD 223). According to legend, it was built for military purposes. Sun Quan, in order to realize "ruling the country with Wu”, built the city for defense. Build a building to look out. In the Tang Dynasty, its military nature gradually evolved into a famous scenic spot. Many poets visited here and left many popular poems. A poem by Cui Hao, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, "The people of the past have taken the Yellow Crane, and the Yellow Crane Tower is vacant here. The Yellow Crane never returns, and the white clouds have been empty for thousands of years. It has become a swan song of the ages, and it has made the Yellow Crane Tower famous.

 

Legend has it that in Wuchang, there used to be a wine shop opened by a young man named Xin. One day, a Taoist priest, in gratitude for free wine, drew a magic crane on the wall of the shop and instructed it to dance whenever it heard clapping. Thousands of people came to see the spectacle and the wine shop was always full of guests. After 10 years, the Taoist priest revisited the wine shop. He played the flute and then rode on the crane to the sky. In memory of the supernatural encounter and the priest, the Xins built a tower and named it Yellow Crane Tower.

 

The Yellow Crane Tower is located on the top of Snake Mountain with an altitude of 61.7 meters. The building is 5 stories high, with a total height of 51.4 meters and a building area of 3219 square meters. A group of auxiliary buildings, such as the cast copper yellow crane shape, the victorious pagoda, the archway, the gallery, the pavilion, etc. make the main building even more magnificent. There are Baiyun Pavilion, Elephant Pagoda, Stele Corridor, Mountain Gate and other buildings around the main building. The whole building has a unique national style, exuding the spirit, temperament and charm of traditional Chinese culture. It complements the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge at the foot of Snake Mountain. Ascending the building, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the three towns of Wuhan.
