Yantai University

INTRODUCTION

Yantai University is is a major key comprehensive university of Shandong Province. It is located in Yantai city of Shandong Province, which is a famous tourist resort. The university is less than one hundred meters from the coast, a truly seaside University.

Yantai University is established in 1984. It is the only university which was established with the help of two famous universities of China, Beijing University and Tsinghua University. There are 21 colleges (departments), 46 research institutes and 62 undergraduate majors in our university, covering ten disciplines: literature, science, engineering, law, agriculture, medicine, economy, management, education and art. We have nearly 1300 full-time teachers, of whom 608 have associate professor titles or above, and 518 have doctor’s degrees.

Yantai University covers an area of 1.4 million square meters. The library has more than 1.94 million books and over 260,000 newspapers and periodicals, with an annual subscription of more than 2,100 Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals.

In 1998, Yantai University was authorized for postgraduate education and in 2004, the university won the Award of Excellence in the Undergraduate Teaching Qualifications Evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, YTU successfully entered the group of Elite Universities and gain qualifications for doctoral education. At present, there are 29,000 full-time students,including junior college student, undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and overseas students. Besides, there are about 6,000 part-time students.

Yantai University has always been focusing on developing international academic communication and exchanges. We have established partnerships with 115 institutions and academic institutions of 26 countries and regions. We host HSK, TOPIK, BEC and other exams at our university.

We are one of the first universities in the country which are approved to receive international students. In 2015, we are approved as “The Base of Chinese Education of Shandong Province”. We provide Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship (SPGS), and Yantai University Scholarship for International Students. In the future, we will further increase the proportion and amount of scholarships to provide financial security for more students.
