With the fame “The University Around The Lake”, it has been awarded titles of a “Garden University” and a “Provincial Model Unit” by the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the CPC and the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province. “Model School of Higher Learning Undergraduates Teaching Quality Assessment” by the Ministry of Education, PRC, in 2007; “Top Ten Harmonious Campuses of Heilongjiang Province” in 2008; “National socialist democracy and spiritual civilization model unit” in 2009, “Certificate of May First Labor commendation” in 2011 and “National Civilized Unit” in 2011, 2015 and 2017. It is one of the key construction universities in Heilongjiang Province.
In recent years, Qiqihar University has successfully realized rapid development. Now, The university consists of 22 schools, e.g. School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering. It also has several teaching and auxiliary teaching departments, such as Modern Education Research Center, Network Information Center and so on.
Qiqihar University offers 81 undergraduate specialties that are subordinate to 11 disciplines, among which 14 categories of master’s degree authorization within the first classification of disciplines and 4 for professional master’s degree authorization. The university has been given sanction to work on a newly-added Doctor’s Degree Conferring Unit.
Qiqihar University is staffed with 1438 full-time teachers in total, including 700 professors and associate professors, and 82.2 percent have a master degree and doctor degree.191 doctoral and postgraduate supervisors, as well as 39 foreign teachers teaching and lecturing in the university.
Qiqihar University has advanced teaching conditions and facilities. These include 2.77 million volumes in library, 0.81 million electronic volumes, 34 Chinese and foreign databases, 5 reading rooms specializing in social sciences or foreign language materials, 134 classrooms functioning as modernized language labs, multi-media classrooms, all online teaching record-anchor multimedia classrooms are in centralized control and management. The university and students also enjoy the first class gymnasium, natatorium, music hall and students’ recreation and sports activities center.

It has had academic exchanges and established ties with cooperatively-run schools with some domestic colleges, and also over 70 colleges from 13 foreign countries like the U.S.A., Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Canada, Austria, and Ireland.
