INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1949, Northeast Electric Power University was the first electric engineering school launched by the People’s Republic of China. Taking talent training, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation as its missions, NEEPU adapts to needs of state electric industry and economic construction of Jilin province actively. A most complete subject system taking electric power as its characteristics and with interdisciplinary crossing and fusion has been formed. NEEPU has 15 schools and departments, 43 undergraduate programs, 2 authorized doctorate disciplines,11 first-grade subjects and 49 second-grade subjects of master degrees, 6 specifically advantaged key disciplines of Jilin province, and 7 engineering master’s degree authorization fields,2 of them is the most key disciplines, 7 engineering master’s degree authorization fields, 3 professional master degree programs including Physical Education and Translation. NEEPU has almost 19,000 full-time students, 116 short-term and long-term international students from 20 countries.

NEEPU has 1,414 faculty and staff, among whom over 500 are with senior professional titles. NEEPU has 2 academician of CAE (double-affiliated), 2 candidates of National Ten Thousand People Plan,2 National Outstanding Professional Technical Talents, 3 National Outstanding Middle-aged and Young Experts, 5 Candidates of the National Project of “Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand” Professionals for New Century, 36 Winners of Government Special Allowance by the State Council, 1 Outstanding Teacher in Higher Education Institutions, 2 Innovative Teams of “Chang Jiang Scholars and Innovative Team Development Plan by Ministry of Education”, 2 national teaching teams.NEEPU has 5 state level specialized programs,4 excellent courses,2 experimental and teaching model centers,1 simulation experimental and teaching center;10 provincial level experimental and teaching centers. NEEPU has won 3 state level teaching achievement prizes.NEEPU has 2 engineering labs jointly owned by the state and the province, 1 national university high-tech park, 2 key labs of Ministry of Education (Engineering Research Center) and 4Jilin Province Great Need Collaborative Innovation Centers. 1 Jilin Province Academician workstation,25 provincial level key labs, research centers and liberal arts bases.Recent years NEEPU has undertaken over 1800 scientific projects of various levels,such as the key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State 973 Plan Project,863 Plan Project,the State Science Support Plan Project,the grand special Project of the State Science and technology,the special development project of the state grand scientific and technological equipment,the key projects of the State Natural Science Foundation, has won 3 second prizes of the State Science and Technology Progress,143 province and ministry level prizes for scientific and technological achievements.The university has actively conducted kinds of academic exchange and cooperation with related colleges and universities or scientific research institutions in USA, Japan, UK, Russia, Republic of Korea, Germany and many other countries chronologically. In 1998, the university was authorized to enroll international students. In 2000, approved by the Office of Academic Degree of the State Council, NEEPU began an undergraduate degree program jointly operated with Utah State University. In 2011, NEEPU became one of the universities being authorized to send core young and middle-aged teachers abroad for advanced training.In 2012, the undergraduate program of Electrical Engineering and Its Automation between NEEPU and University of Strathclyde was approved by the Ministry of Education.2013, NEEPU was approved by the Ministry of Education to accept China Government Scholarship for international students.
