INTRODUCTION

Minzu University of China (MUC) is one of China’s most important comprehensive universities, and is titled with Project 211、Project 985 and World-class Universities and First-class Disciplines, The titles are honored to the best universities in China. Minzu University of China is located in Haidian district of Beijing, where there are many famous universities. The university is renowned for its highly distinctive ethnic characteristics. It also has a beautiful gardenlike campus, something rarely seen in northern China.

Focusing on Humanities and featured by Ethnic Studies, MUC has a comprehensive set of disciplines, covering liberal arts, science, engineering, medical science, management, education, economics, politics, law, arts and physical education. MUC has 24 colleges, offering 64undergraduate programs, 99 master programs and 39 doctoral programs, all open to international students. Its Ethnology participate in the country’s construction plan of first-class disciplines.. Today, MUC has a faculty of 1,893 members, among whom 1,196 are full time teachers, including 678 professors and associate professors. MUC has established cooperation with more than 150 universities and institutes in 35 countries and regions. Each year, many well-known scholars in different academic fields come to exchange and teach at MUC.

At MUC, multiple cultures are harmonious with each other. Not only does it have a high-quality, top-level faculty with ethnic backgrounds, but also 50％ of its 16,858 full-time students are ethnic minorities. MUC is a microcosm of the big family of Chinese ethnic groups, and it is the only university in China where all of China’s 56 ethnic groups are represented in its faculty and student body. The multiple cultures of the 56 ethnic groups harmoniously mix together here.

MUC is one of the most well-known institutions in teaching Chinese as a second language in China. It is also one of the first 8 universities in China that enrolled international students and began teaching and researching in this field. It also accepts international students with CSC Scholarship and ‘Confucius Institute Scholarship’. Each year, over 600 international students from more than 50 countries study here. The College of International Education is the special agency that is responsible for recruitment, Chinese teaching and management of as well as service to all international students at MUC. The college offers non-degree Chinese language courses and undergraduate program on Chinese to international students, while it provide master program on Teaching Chinese to Students of Other Languages and doctoral program on International Chinese Language Education to both Chinese and international students. It has all necessary facilities and excellent teachers. The teachers have a lot of teaching experiences. For international students, MUC provides small classes, and there are tutors and study partners helping to solve the difficulties in studies and daily life after class.
