LUT has a modern processing training centre, an electricity and electronics training centre, computer centre, and metalworking training centre, and more than 60 foundation laboratories, and professional laboratories. Besides studying in the classrooms and doing experiments in the labs, our students also take practical training.
LUT has carried out international exchange and cooperation since 1985. In recent years, the university has established friendly cooperation relationships with more than 10 universities in other countries, such as the USA, the UK, Germany, Korea and Australia. The cooperative fields between LUT and the Eastern Kentucky University of the USA, the Napier University of the UK and the Ulsan University of Korea have been widened from 2+2, “3+1” program to the professors’ scientific research cooperation. LUT The international exchange and cooperation has accelerated the opening of LUT and improved the level of teachers’ teaching and researching. LUT started educating international students in 1997. In 2008 we started degree courses in English. At present, six undergraduate programs and all of the postgraduate programs are offered in English. At present, there are over 500 international students of different levels from more than 40 countries on campus.
The library at LUT covers an area of 50,000 square meters and has collected over 1.2 million volumes of literature and documents. The advanced campus network information platform has facilitated students’ learning and daily life.
The LUT campus is one of the Garden Units in Liaoning. The student residence is comfortable, orderly, full of cultural atmosphere and convenient for shopping and traveling. There are cafeterias on campus and many restaurants close by. Street markets, convenience stores, supermarkets, and coffee shops are also available on and around the campus. In our city, there are quite a few big supermarkets and shopping malls, where all living facilities and a variety of western foods can be found. public buses and taxis are available all the time. Transportation is very convenient on and off campus.
In order to enrich our students’ daily lives, we regularly organize and participate in all kinds of activities on/off-campus.
The Chinese Center of the Culture Communication College at LUT is composed of qualified Chinese teachers. All of them have got professional certificates in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Chinese classes are usually of a small size. Our vacation programs offer not only Chinese language but also all kinds of culture courses. LUT is an official HSK test location, allowing our students to take the HSK test conveniently on campus.
After the development of more than half a century, LUT has brought up over 30,000 eligible successors for the modern construction of China and Liaoning. Our international students’ alumni have a global presence and they are active in various parts of the world. Most alumni go back to contribute to their countries in different fields; some of them continue to study for MS or PhD programs in China and other countries. Our graduates are becoming more and more recognized by domestic companies and enterprises in many cities across China. In the last few years, quite a few of our students have been employed in our city and their work is highly praised.
LUT is one of the authorized universities to offer Chinese Government Scholarship to take in and encourage gifted students. For outstanding international we also offer university scholarships every year. About 45% students have the opportunity to get it.
At present, the staff of LUT, in accordance to the development strategy of “improving level, enriching itself, highlighting features and accelerating development”, are working hard and constantly striving to develop LUT into a multiversity with engineering being the specialty and harmoniously developing various specialties—engineering, science, liberal arts, management and social study, with a certain characteristics and advantages.
