Lanzhou Jiaotong University was established in 1958. It was originally called “Lanzhou Railway University”, but was renamed “Lanzhou Jiaotong University” in April, 2003. Since then, the school as maintained a tradition of rigorous scholarship, high-standards, and striving to cultivate students with a strong academic foundation, a wide breadth of knowledge, high competence, strong moral character, creativity, and an international perspective. Our departments of civil engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, traffic and transportation, vehicle engineering, rail transit signal and control, electrical engineering and automation, communication engineering, and other disciplines associated with railways are highly regarded and stand out from the crowd. In 2005, the quality of undergraduate education obtained a commendation from the Ministry of Education and was rated as “excellent”. In 2011 we were part of the second group of universities chosen to implement the Ministry of Education’s new plan for promoting excellence in engineer talents education, in 2012 the university was selected as one of “2011-2012’s typical universities with high quality job placement of graduating students”, and in 2017 were chosen as part of the second group of model schools for innovation and educational reform.
Lanzhou Jiaotong University (LZJTU), located in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province is the third railway college of China. The history of the school can be traced back to the Imperial Chinese Railway College in 1896. After years of development, LZJTU is a multidisciplinary, comprehensive university with a wide range of disciplines covered, comprising the engineering, technology, economy, management, arts, agronomy and science of laws. LZJTU offers a multitude of characteristic specialties in the fields of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental and Municipal Engineering, Automation and Electrical Engineering and Electronics and information Engineering. The university has trained a large number of excellent engineers for the infrastructure construction of the world.
LZJTU currently has three campuses, 29,982 full-time students, including 22,106 undergraduate students, 4,868 postgraduate students and 446 international students. The university is the host university for Chinese Government Scholarship Program, The Silk Road Scholarship Program of Gansu Province, European Student Exchange Program, US Students Degree Program, US Students Exchange Program as well as the Demonstration Base for Study in China. The university has already cultivated over 1800 international students from 57 countries all over the world and international students alumni are distributed in more than 70 countries around the world .
