INTRODUCTION

Jiangnan University, founded initially in 1902, is located in Wuxi city (Jiangsu Province), which is within Shanghai Economic Circle. It functions directly under Ministry of Education (China) as 211 Project key university. There are 18 Schools, and Food Science, Fermentation Engineering, Textile Engineering, Industrial Design play the leading role in China, and have substantial influence internationally. In recent years, some burgeoning disciplines like International Economics and Trade, Business Administration, Computer Science and Technology also have recruited numbers of international students.

There are 20,122 full-time undergraduates, 8,329 full-time postgraduates and 1,276 international students. Jiangnan University functions directly under Ministry of Education, and sees quality as her life line, covering fields of economics, education, laws, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, business etc., among which food science, fermentation, textile, industrial design play the leading role in nationwide, and have great influence in the world.

Jiangnan University began to accept international students from 1964, and has cultivated different kinds of students from more than 100 countries. The university specially establishes Jiangnan University New Student Scholarship,“President Scholarship”, and“Taihu Scholarship” for international students.

Jiangnan University has 6 Post-doctoral Research Stations in the fields of Light Industry Technology and Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, Chemistry Engineering and Technology, Textile Engineering, and Design. It is entitled to confer master degrees in 58 programs, and doctoral degrees in 28 programs. Currently there are over 8,000 doctoral and master candidates studying on campus.

The faculty team consists of 3,198 members including 1002 professors and associate professors. Also JU boasts 2 academician of the China Academy of Engineering, 13 winners totally achieving National Outstanding Youth Foundation and honor of Cheung Kong Scholars, 16 faculties supported by Programs of 1,000 Global Experts and 1,000 Young Global Experts. Among the team 37.5% faculties have got abroad experience. Besides, there are two National Innovation Teams and four Jiangsu Provincial Innovation Teams. The academic research group, represented by over 800 Master and PhD supervisors, has laid a solid foundation for scientific innovation and the training of high-level personnel.
