Inner Mongolia University consists of 26 schools and has a student body of 3,0305. It sets 10 disciplines such as philosophy, economics, law, literature, history, sciences, engineering, agriculture, management and art theory. Presently, Inner Mongolia University has 6 ministry-level key study platforms such as Humanities and Social Science Key Research Bases in Mongolian Studies, Biology, Ecology and Chemistry, National Key Laboratory of the Collaborative Construction with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, Key Laboratory and Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education of China, as well as 35 regional key laboratories, engineering research centers, humanity and social science research bases. Now, Inner Mongolia University has 2 state-level key disciplines of Chinese Ethnic Language & Literature and Zoology and 1 state-level key cultivating discipline of ecology, 18 regional-level key disciplines and 8 regional-level key cultivating disciplines, 7 first-level and 3 second-level Doctoral Degree disciplines, 26 first-level and 6 second-level Master Degree disciplines, 10 professional Master Degree programs and 7 post-doctoral research stations. It sets 87 undergraduate specialties, 144 undergraduate teaching laboratories, 104 on and off campus teaching practice bases.
IMU is among the first batch of model base schools to enroll international students in China, and is a Chinese preparatory study base for international students in Inner Mongolia, and has been entitled to enroll Chinese Government Scholarship students, Confucius Institute Scholarship students, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government Scholarship students. Until now, IMU has enrolled over 3, 000 international students from about 40 countries and regions around the world and currently there are over 800 international students from over 30 countries.
IMU has formed a comprehensive international student educational system composed of language students, undergraduate students, postgraduate students and PhD students. IMU offers different levels of language courses according to the different language levels and needs of international students such as introductory class, preliminary class, intermediate class and advanced class, and HSK tutoring class is also offered regularly together with various extracurricular activities to enhance the Chinese language application and cultural blending of international students. We also offer courses in listening, reading, writing, speaking and comprehensive skills to enhance their Chinese competence. Meanwhile, multiple academic, entertaining, cultural and social practice events are scheduled to enrich the campus life of international students, deepen their understanding of Chinese language and culture, inspire their interest in Chinese, enhance the friendship of Chinese and international students and boost mutual cultural communication.
