Hubei University, jointly developed by Hubei Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education of China, is a key comprehensive university administrated by Hubei Province. Established in 1931, located in the center of Wuhan—the capital city of Hubei Province and a transportation hub in central China, the university covers an area of 300 acres.
Hubei University has 18 academic faculties offering 80 undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) programs, 5 doctoral degrees in first-level disciplines, 41 doctoral degrees in second-level disciplines, 6 post-doctoral research stations, 22 master’s degrees in first-level disciplines, 145 master’s degrees in second-level disciplines. The university has always laid emphasis on scientific research and has been actively engaged in national and regional independent innovation projects. Currently, Hubei University has 2 state key laboratories, 6 provincial key laboratories, 12 provincial research bases of humanities and social sciences, Hubei University attracts more than 1200 distinguished research faculties and teaching staffs. Among them, there are 727 professors and associate professors, 2 academicians. There are nearly 190,000 full-time undergraduate and college students, and over 5600 master’s or doctor’s candidates. Each year, 300 international students enroll in different degree or foundation courses, including those with Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Hubei Provincial International Student Scholarship and Hubei Provincial “Silk and Road” International Student Scholarship.
