The university currently consists of 16 schools and 2 departments, and offers 55 majors that include art, science, economy, pedagogy, engineering, agronomy, management, and literature.

As part of the university’s commitment to providing high-quality education, HSU has taken great efforts to build a well-structured and qualified faculty of teachers. Among the 944 teaching and administrative members, 827 of them are full-time teachers, including over 230 professors and associate professors, 667 holding master’s degrees and 436 being dual-qualified teachers.

Since its establishment, over 69,000 students have graduated from HSU. and the graduates are noted for their professionalism and their all-around competence in their selected vocational field. We were awarded the title of National Model Unit on Graduates’ Employment in the year 2015.

HSU is also doing incredible work promoting academic invention. With its steadily rising scientific research abilities over time, HSU has been included in the top ten ranked provincial universities in 2011 and the Top Hundred Provincial Universities Granted Utility Patents in 2015 and 2017. It adequately exemplifies the importance of technology transfer to institutional success.

HSU developed its Center for Entrepreneurship Education in 2015 to promote entrepreneurial ideas and products that contribute to societal changes. It has been home to some remarkable achievements and honors. Among them, it has been honored as an Advanced State University for Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a Provincial Model Unit on Entrepreneurship Education, and has taken the lead among other provincial universities. 

The University emphasizes an administration that employs democracy and an education that encourages wholeheartedness. It has been recognized by the Ministry of Education with the qualification assessment for graduate education in 2012. In 2014, it was approved as a Construction Unit of Local High-Level Application-Oriented University in Anhui Province, and in 2015 it was ranked among the first batch of Pilot Universities of Comprehensive Reform in Anhui Province.

HSU has established sister school relationships with 30 schools and institutes from around the world, including the U.S., France, Germany, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Each year more than 100 students and teachers can be offered with a wide range of exchange programs.

The university started offering programs for international students in 2006 and became one of the Chinese Government Scholarship programs in 2013. To date, we have admitted approximately 400 international students coming from 14 countries, including Korea, USA, Uzbekistan, France, Switzerland, Romania, Russia, Yemen, Germany, Mongolia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, to name just a few.

International students in our university can choose from undergraduate certificate programs and non-degree programs. Undergraduate certificate programs are for students who haven’t previously completed an undergraduate degree. Those academically outstanding ones can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship, Anhui Government Scholarship and Huangshan University Scholarship. Non-degree programs offer Chinese language classes, short-term training, winter and summer camps as well as China study tours, etc.

 After many years of experience, the university has developed the following characteristics: enriching students’ social experience by utilizing Huizhou culture; ensuring the quality of international students’ education by means of in-class language learning and out-of-class language practice; and establishing diversified internship platform to fully fulfil the multiple goals of language acquisition, traditional Chinese Culture transmission as well as practical language skills.

The Center for International Education, located in Hengjiang Campus, is an administrative office, responsible for administration, logistics, and security matters of all the international students.
