INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1902, Guizhou University (hereinafter as GZU), with the motto of “Illustrious virtue, utmost goodness, extensive learning and earnest practice”, is persistently committed to be a leading university with regional characteristics that cherishes high quality education as the fundamental and serves the economic and social development of Guizhou Province and southwest China.
GZU is a key 211 Project university co-built by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province; in 2012, it was listed as one of the 14 member universities of the Middle and Western China Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project; in2016, it became a member of the “One Top University, One Province” Project; in 2017, it was selected as one of world-class disciplines construction universities.
With 40 colleges under its administration, GZU offers 137 bachelor’s programs, 197 master’s programs and 48 doctoral programs, covering 11 branches of learning including philosophy, economics, laws, liberal arts, history, education, science, engineering, agriculture, administration, and art. At present, GZU has 55,121 full-time students and 3,950 faculty and staff members, and 2,493 of them are full-time faculty members.
GZU vigorously develops international cooperation and exchange. So far, it has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 140 academic institutions in over 40 countries and regions. Over 900 international students from nearly over 50 countries or regions registered in GZU in for long or short term studies in 2015.
