Guizhou Minzu University has a well-structured and well-developed staff. There are 1,571 teachers and workers on the payroll, of whom 1,069 people are professional teachers. Of the faculty 743teachers are awarded with the professional rank above associate professor (180 professors and 563 associate professors); of the faculty 281 teachers have received PhD degree and 809 teachers have received master degree.

At present, the university has 20,722 full-time students,and there are about 379 students on the enrollment from 23 different countries, such as America, Russia, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and so on. Of the students 270 are degree students.

Through the practice and development over 67 years, the university has developed coordinately into a comprehensive higher education institute which involves with 9 academic categories, namely, liberal arts, history, law, fine arts, management, sciences, economics, engineering and pedagogy. The university is oriented with undergraduate education but also combined with postgraduate, preparatory, and adult education. The university governs 19 colleges, namely, College of Business, College of Law, College of Ethnography and Sociology, College of Marx – Leninism, College of National Culture and Cognitive Science,College of Literature, College of Foreign Languages, College of Media, College of Data Science and Information Engineering,College Of Mechatronic Engineering,College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering,College of Eco-Environmental Engineering, College of Material Science and Engineering,College of Architecture and Engineering,College of Tourism and Steward,College of Music and Dance, College of Fine Arts ,College of Physical Education and College of International Education.

The Office of International Exchange and Cooperation is responsible for international students admission, and the College of International Education is responsible for the teaching affairs and management of international students.

The university offers both degree programs and non-degree programs for international students. The degree programs include bachelor degree, master degree and doctoral degree, and the non-degree programs include language study and major study. The Chinese language study enable students to improve their language skills and communication skills rapidly. After passing HSK, students can start their major study. Short-time study tour has a variety of curriculum, including Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese Kung Fu, Chinese chess and so on, which enable students to experience Chinese culture and learn language.

With 67 years of construction and development, Guizhou Minzu University has become a cradle for minority talents, a tie of minority culture heritage, a research centre of minority talents, a cultivation base for national unity, and a think tank for the development of minority areas.
