There are 19 colleges in Fuzhou University, mainly for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate education and 1 independently operated colleges. The University boasts 1 national key subject, 1 national key supporting subject, 5 provincial advantageous subject innovation platform, 6 provincial characteristic subjects and 26 provincial key subjects. Especially the Chemistry, Engineering and Materials Science are in the international ESI discipline ranking top 1%, and the total subjects of the top %1 major in ESI is 49th rank among the mainland universities. There are 11 post-doctoral research stations, 10 doctoral degree programmes for the first-rank disciplines, 3 doctoral degree programmes for the second-rank disciplines (not including the first-rank disciplines), 36 master’s degree programmes for the first-rank disciplines, 7 master’s degree programmes for the second-rank disciplines (not including the first-rank disciplines), 12 professional degree programmes (Among them, there are 23 engineering fields in the engineering master's degree programmers) and 78 undergraduate programmes. Fuzhou University has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to students from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan regions and also abroad. At present, there are about 24,000 undergraduate students and 8,200 graduate students, among which over 550 are Ph.D. students.  Since its establishment, about 210,000 students have graduated from Fuzhou University, including full-time doctoral and master’s degree students as well as those with the bachelor’s degrees and associate degrees.

Fuzhou University has been taking great efforts to develop the cooperation and exchange with the outside world, It has built a friendly and collaborative relationship with Tsinghua university, Peking University, renmin university of China and other famous universities, scientific research institutes in Hong Kong, Macao, TaiWan , and more than 140 universities in different countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia and so on. The University is also engaged in promoting the exchanges between Chinese civilization and Western civilization, each year, there are more than 150 foreign experts are working in the school. It has established the “Library of the Western Belvedere”, the first western works center in China, and the Institute of International Sinology. Now Fuzhou University has 3 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, 40 different Students' long /short visit program, including undergraduate, master, doctor and other advanced education level and the only one school that has cooperative education with Taiwan in doctor level, the only one school that has undergraduate and master level Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in Fujian province.
