The university faculty includes 4321 teachers (among which 2650 are full-time teachers), 10 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences and members of Chinese Academy of Engineering in full-time faculty, 30 in part-time faculty. DUT has now 42,041 full-time students, and 860 international students among of full-time students.
DUT keeps the education of talents as its primary mission and attaches equal importance to undergraduate and graduate programs. It has formed a multi-disciplinary system which focuses on science and engineering and coordinates science, engineering, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy and arts. The university has 1 graduate school, 7 faculties, 8 independent academic schools and teaching departments, 3 special schools and 1 independent college.
The university has now 4 national key primary disciplines (Dynamics, Hydraulic engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Management Science and Engineering, covering 15 secondary disciplines), 6 national key secondary disciplines (Computational Mathematics, Plasma Physics, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Structural Engineering, Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment, Environmental Engineering), and 2 national key secondary (cultivating) disciplines. There are 27 Ph. D. programs in the primary disciplines, 130 Ph.D. programs in the secondary disciplines, 42 Master programs in the primary disciplines, 220 Master programs in the secondary disciplines, 25 post-doctoral research stations.
The disciplines of engineering and chemistry of DUT were selected into the “world-class discipline construction list”. Well-developed disciplines in DUT are provided with rich resources and have strong research backgrounds. Currently, 9 disciplines of DUT are selected into the top 1% in ESI international disciplines ranking, of which engineering, chemistry and materials science entered world top 1 ‰; 12 disciplines are selected into Top 500 in QS world discipline ranking, the number of disciplines ranking the 18th in all universities in China; 16 disciplines are selected into the Times Higher Education world discipline ranking, the number of disciplines ranking the 17th in all universities in China.
The university library has a collection of more than 3,668,000 books and over 58,000 Chinese and foreign electronic journals. The existing sports area of the university is 213,000 square meters. At the same time, DUT has a domestic first-class campus network system.
DUT is doing actively in academic exchange with other science and technology organizations, both in domestic and abroad. DUT has signed academic agreements with more than 207 higher education institutions and scientific research in more than 29 different countries and regions.
At present, DUT continues to adhere to the fundamental task of setting high moral values and cultivating people, keep the primary mission of educating talents, deepen the comprehensive reform, strengthen characteristics of connotation, and strive to build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
