DJTU has 18, 237 full-time students on campus, covers an area of 820, 800 square meters， and consists of two campuses which are in Shahekou and Lvshunkou districts respectively. DJTU is capable of granting bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctor’s degree. There are currently 43 undergraduate majors among which 13 are national or provincial key majors and vehicle engineering is the training base for badly-needed talents in Liaoning Province. DJTU has the right to recommend students to pursue postgraduate education without having to take exams. There are 24 scientific platforms at the provincial or higher levels. Furthermore, there are 1,032 teaching staff, among whom 152 are professors, 352 are associate professors, 59 are doctoral supervisors and those with master or doctoral degrees account for more than 80% of the total.
In recent years, DJTU has been strengthening cooperation with enterprises like China Railways Corporation and China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation. DJTU has signed an agreement with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation to co-establish and co-develop the institute of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation of Dalian Jiaotong University. They will emphasize and carry out concrete cooperation in customized undergraduate education program, jointly-cultivated postgraduate program, recruiting overseas students, sharing top talents, jointly-recruiting elite talents at home and abroad, and the co-establishment of the institute of modern railway transportation equipment manufacturing technology. DJTU has been awarded ‘National Model Unit of Industry-University-Institute cooperation’. In terms of international communication, DJTU has successively established stable cooperative relations with more than 40 universities and educational research institutes like Australia, United States, Britain, Japan, Russia, Singapore, Canada, Sweden, Germany, France and South Korea. DJTU is also a member of the ‘1+2+1 Sino-American Talents Cultivation Plan’ and is able to recruit international students with national government scholarships.

Standing at the new historical starting point, Dalian Jiaotong University will focus on modern railway transportation equipment manufacturing and software and information service, firmly grasp the strategic opportunities of ‘globalization of high-speed trains’, ‘one belt and one road’, revitalization of the old industrial base of Liaoning, and Dalian’s constructions of international shipping center of northeast of Asia and software and information manufacturing base, strictly implement the national development outlines and Liaoning Province’s medium and long term educational reform and development outlines, forward essential development, promote DJTU’s core competitiveness and make arduous efforts in building DJTU into a first-class university with distinguishing features.
