There are 30 colleges and departments in CNU. Apart from these, the CNU has 1 major for junior college education, and 57 majors for undergraduate. Now the total enrollment of the university is 26,971, including 196 full-time throughout educated students, 283 full-time junior college students, 11,286 undergraduates, 6798 masters, 789 Ph.D.s, 6809 adult education students and 810 international students. CNU has formed a multi-dimensional and multi-level operational structure and teaching system covering it all right from the junior college education to undergraduates, masters, Ph.D.s, and post-doctorates, from full-time education to adult education and international education.
There is a total teaching staff of 2,515 at CNU. Among the 1,619 full-time teachers, there are 349 professors, 640 associate professors, 989 Ph.D holders, and 385 master degree holders; those with master degree or above account for 85% of all teachers. There are 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of Russian Academy of Natural Science, 4 members of the discipline review group of the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, and 13 members of Discipline Teaching Instruction Committee of the Ministry of Education.
The CNU actively participates in international cultural exchange. Its list of exchange and cooperation bonds includes 225 universities from 42 countries and regions. It has founded 6 Confucius Institutes, namely Confucius Institute at Russian St. Petersburg National University, Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota, Confucius Institute at the University of Venice (Università Ca' Foscari Venezia), Confucius Institute at the University of Piura, Confucius Institute at the State University of New York at Buffalo and the Bremen Confucius Institute in Germany. The CNU has co-cultivated 602 masters of education with Flinders University in Australia. Since 2016, nearly 800 foreign students from 45 countries along the“Belt and Road”have studied here at CNU. The CNU is also among the few universities that accept international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and it is the only demonstration base for international students, authorized by the Ministry of Education among all universities that are supervised by the Beijing municipal governments. In addition, the CNU is the base of “Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students’Pre University Education”. CNU has established the Western Europe Research Center, and is selected as one of the “Belt and Road”national talent training bases.
