Currently, BJUT has 3 national key disciplines, 39 key disciplines of Beijing municipality, 18 first category doctoral programs, 1 second category doctoral programs, 31 first category master’s degree programs, 3 second category master’s degree programs, 18 post-doctoral programs and 66 bachelor’s degree programs. As of August 2017, BJUT has around 3000 staff members in total. Among them, over 1700 are full-time faculty including 6 full-time Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 winners of the National Award of Distinguished Faculty in Higher Education, 10 specially-appointed professors of Yangtze River Scholars Program of MOE, 12 winners of National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 14 candidates of the China Global Experts Recruitment Program.
As of April 2017, BJUT has more than 250,000 students including 9800 graduate students, 13,000 undergraduate students, 2076 part-time undergraduates of continuing education and 1027 international students from 95 countries and regions, among which 495 are degree-seeking students including 126 PhD-seeking students. Up to now, BJUT has contributed more than 140,000 outstanding graduates for society and has increasingly become a significant base of high-quality innovative talent cultivation, a major power of regional science and technology innovation, a vital think tank for urban construction and development, and an important channel of international exchange and cooperation for Beijing.
Inspired by the motto of ‘Endless Pursuit of Truth as Aim, Persistent Innovation as Way’ and following the three strategies of ‘strengthening the university by talents, developing its own characteristics and opening up to the outside world’, BJUT strives to build itself into an internationally recognized high-level research university with its uniqueness and make more contribution to the economic and social development at home and abroad.
