Beijing Normal University is located in the capital city, Beijing. Founded in 1902, it is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education. In recent years, under the support of 211 Project and 985 Project, Beijing Normal University has entered a new stage of historical development and has made remarkable achievements in disciplinary construction, personnel training, teaching and research; laying a solid foundation for training by becoming a comprehensive, distinctive, research-based world-renowned high-rank university. At present, our school has nearly 2,000 full-time teachers and 26,400 full-time students, including 10,197 undergraduates, 14,572 graduate students and over 1,700 long-term international students. There is 1 faculty, 26 colleges (schools), 2 departments and 40 institutes (centres).
The comprehensive strength of Beijing Normal University ranks among the nation's top universities. In 2002, Beijing Normal University became one of the first six colleges to have the right to approve undergraduate programs independently. There are currently 64 undergraduate majors, 146 second-level master's degree programs, 109 second-level doctoral programs, 25 post-doctoral mobile stations, 24 first-level doctoral programs and 37 first-level disciplines of master's degree programs. 5 first-level disciplines, 11 second-level disciplines approved national key disciplines, two second-level disciplines approved the national key (nurture) disciplines. 5 first-level disciplines; Education, psychology, Chinese history, geography, ecology, all rank in the national first level subjects. 3 first-level disciplines; Chinese language and literature, drama and film, system science all rank second, a total of 10 disciplines rank in the national top five, while 17 first-level disciplines rank in the top ten.
