Beijing Normal University has extensive international cooperation and exchange. The school has signed cooperation agreements with nearly 300 universities and research institutes in over 30 countries and regions and has exchange student project cooperation with more than 80 universities in the United States, Britain, Canada, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, Macau and other countries and regions. The school has created 8 Confucius Institutes in cooperation with the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, San Francisco State University, University of Oklahoma, Dawson College in Canada, Aalborg University in Denmark, University of Macerata in Italy, University of William Mary in the United States and Tufts University in the United States.

Beijing Normal University has enrolled international students since 1965 and has accumulated rich experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and in teaching professional majors to overseas students. Currently, long-term international students come from 124 countries and regions, of which 70% study degree. At present, we have set up a Master's Degree in English for International education in eight fields; Comparative education, Higher education management, Public administration, Human geography, Law, World economy, Environmental science and Chinese philosophy, and set up an International English Ph.D. degree in Comparative education. At the same time, there are 105 English-taught advance studies credit courses taught in five disciplines; Education, Economics, Management science, Environmental science, Geography, and Law, thereby providing a learning arena for all outstanding students from around the world.
