INTRODUCTION

Anshan Normal University(ANU) is situated in Anshan City of Liaoning Province, which is National Excellent Tourism City and National Sanitary City, and reputed for five travelling brands, including world’s largest Jade Buddha, famous hot spring in Asia, national scenic spot Qianshan Mountain, national Jade Capital and Iron & Steel Capital. ANU is a public university with eight major disciplines: Literature, Science, Education, History, Administration, Law, Engineering, and Art.

ANU was founded in 1958, which has been approved by Ministry of Education as university for cultivating international students with Chinese Government Scholarship, and issuing Master Degree to Education candidates.

For now there are campuses occupying 750,000 square meters, among which 200, 000 square meters are buildings for teaching, scientific research and administration. ANU has 14 academic schools, 4 Teaching and Researching Centers and 1 high school.

ANU offers 7 Education Master programs, including Preschool Education and Subject Teaching ((Chinese, Maths, Politics, Chemistry, English and Physics)). Besides, ANU also offers 49 undergraduate programs and 45 vocational programs. There are approximately 1,200 faculties and 20,000 full time students at different levels. ANU now has formed a multi-type and multi-level education system, ranging from undergraduate education, graduate education, vocational education, continuing education and international student education.

ANU has been engaging in extensive international cooperation and exchange, and making efforts to introduce advanced overseas educational resources. So far, ANU has established collaborative ties with more than 80 universities and 20 educational institutes from over 20 countries, and substantial cooperation and exchange have been carried out. Meanwhile, ANU has accepted over 5,000 international students from USA, Russia, Poland, Austria, South Korea, Japan, Spain, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan etc..

During past 6 decades, under the guidance of school motto “Pursue Profoundness and Elegance, Combine Knowledge and Practice”, adhere to our vision “to cultivate people, to upgrade teaching quality, to serve society”, Anshan Normal University focuses on developing high quality of teaching and is always making efforts to establish its modern university system with features of multidiscipline, opening-up and locality.

Now ANU is undertaking main campus expansion project, when that finished the total campus area will reach 985,000 square meters with a construction area of 400,000 square meters. The construction of new campus plays an important role in improving infrastructure, optimizing allocation of resources and promoting quality of teaching, while at the same time will help with urban innovation and ANU’s self development.
